General Information

Cal Water's Kern River Valley District was formed in 2000 with the purchase of the Kern River Valley Water Company, which began serving the area in 1967. Cal Water supplies customers to more than 5,200 customers throughout the Valley. Cal Water proactively maintains and upgrades its facilities to ensure a reliable, high-quality water supply.

Countrywood

Countrywood is served by a local supply pumped from rock fissures beneath the ground.

Kernville

Kernville is served by a local supply pumped from rock fissures beneath the ground and surface water from the Kern River that is treated at our highly advanced membrane filtration system in Kernville.

Lakeland

Lakeland is served by a local supply pumped from rock fissures beneath the ground and treated through reverse osmosis filtration.

Lower Bodfish

In 2007, a new well was constructed, which treats water with various stages of filtration. The new well and treatment system help ensure adequate, high-quality water supply to the Lower Bodfish and Juniper Hills systems.

Mountain Mesa

Cal Water operates the Mountain Mesa water system under contract. In 2007, a new ion exchange treatment plant was constructed, as was a pipeline that serves as a backup supply from Cal Water's South Lake system. Mountain Mesa Water Company continues to make improvements to the treatment plant, such as adding equipment that continuously monitors water quality to ensure that only high-quality water is delivered to our customers.

Mountain Shadows

Mountain Shadows is served by a local supply pumped from rock fissures beneath the ground.

Onyx

Onyx is served by a local supply pumped from rock fissures beneath the ground and water from the Kern River.
